PRESIDENTS PRATTLE : AUGUST 2023

I do apologise for not submitting a July President Prattle!!! Too busy gallivanting around some of the countries listed below. Countries listed below, in which our members have travelled in the last few months, and I'm sure I've missed some out. New Zealand, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, Ireland, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, Denmark, Wales, Norway, Alaska, Canada, Croatia, India, Scotland, America, England, Fiji, and some members have just travelled around our beautiful country. Everybody arrived home safe and well (except for the dreaded COVID) with lots of amazing stories to tell. I'm sure if an enterprising club member was willing to open a Travel Agency, they will endeavour to do a good trade!!!!

Once again a small band of swimmers entered in the Riverton Masters Swim coming 6th out of 15 clubs competing. Congratulations you guys, you've done Mandurah Manna's proud, setting some new state records.

Many many thanks to Alex for rounding up a total of 16 swimmers to compete in the Groper Relays, coming 6th out of the 14 teams that competed, with not only pool swimmers, but some Doddi's ocean swimmers putting their hand up and competing.

Hope everyone is getting excited for our own Mandurah Manna's Swim Meet to be held on the 19th November.

Mandurah Manna's have been selected to be a host club, (only 2 out of the Western Australia clubs), for the "Learn to Swim" program sponsored by Allianz. This program is free to the participants who have entered, only requirement is that they haven't had any swimming lessons before and can't swim. The lessons are provided by the MARC, we just have to offer a 3 month membership for the participants that wish to continue, and attend the meet and greet morning tea which is provided by MSA. Allianz pays for the 3 months subscriptions. Even if the club only receive 1-3 swimmers out of this program, the fact that they are learning to swim is a plus, no matter what age!

Tuesday morning training is proving to be very popular, once again, thanks to the coaches who just keep on giving their time.

Anyone out there prepared to train as a coach, contact the club and we will welcome you with open arms. WE NEED YOU!!!

Weather has been playing an important part for the ocean swimmers, but understandable with the water temperature dropping to just 14c on Saturday, good to see the hard core swimmers battling the elements.

The next social gathering is a "Soup & Curry" night at Sue and Keith Giles, they once again have offered their beautiful home, 12 Redmond Way, Erskine, for this event. Please advise Karen or Alex regarding the BYO food you are bringing.

Swim for Fun, Fitness & Friendship.
