2019 Melville Masters LLCC Results

Photos by Recorder Helen and Report by Coach Mike

A great day was had on Sunday 24 March at the Melville LiveLighter Club Challenge swim meet. Our team of 20 swimmers plus supporters, cheer squad, assistants and official all acquitted themselves exceptionally well.

The cheering and support for our team was fantastic.

Mandurah came a very close second place to the host club Melville by a mere 4 points, 205 to 201. (Oh, for the want of perhaps 1 more swimmer).

Overall we had some great performances.

  • Six of our swimmers - Jen Crake, Gerda Williams, Deb Bloor, Anna Gstaettner, John Cahill and Mike Bennett - won all three of their individual events.

  • Another four swimmers - Narelle Gilmore, Rosemary Green, Jannie Thomson and Kirk Bamford - won two events each and came second in their third.

  • A further two swimmers - Pauline Wingate and Steve Crake - won one and finished second in their other two events.

  • Donna Hoskins was placed second in all three of her events.

There were also solid efforts from all of our other swimmers and new discoveries in Jeffrey Abdilla (30sec for 50m free) and Michael Fernandez de Viana (43sec 50m breast) both should add to our depth for our own club meet in two weeks time, as well as the State relay meet later in the year.

Capt Jen put together three relay teams to represent us in three different age groups and all three teams won.

It would be fantastic to see as many members as possible enter our club meet on the 7th April.

To do so, you will need to get your nominations in this week to Capt Jen by email to jrollinbusby@gmail.com or text to 0452 204 087.

Alternatively, you can enter in the book in the training cage on this week's training nights.
