Ideal winter swimming conditions at Doddi's

After a week of blustery wet weather and rough conditions, only braved by a few hardy souls, we had 19 swimmers in the water at Doddi's on what was (as you can see by the photo) a lovely sunny winter's morning.

The initial swim away from Groyne is in estuary outflow water, which is cold. We haven't any recent official readings, but the water temperature must be no higher than 16C. Thank goodness halfway to reef swimmers encounter the relatively warmer ocean water.

Thanks to the spotters who continue to brave the weather. A special thanks to Graeme and Joel who go to a lot trouble to supply and set up hot water showers for after the swim - you are a God send!

Among the swimmers was Paul's daughter Kate who took this photo. She joined us as part of her training for the 2017 Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga USA on 9 September. The rectangular swim course on the Tennessee River sounds challenging, especially the legs swimming across the current. Good luck Kate from everyone at Mandurah Masters!

Erica please thank Craig for his efforts to try and straighten the Clubroom tree!
