Great Night at Indoor Lawn Bowls
Twenty-six Mannas enjoyed yet another great social event organised by our dynamic social duo Ken & Glenda.
We assembled prior to the 5pm start to have a few looseners from the bar. We were then divided into 6 teams over 3 rinks. Clearly, some of us have potential as bowlers while the majority should stick to swimming.
After an hour of fun attempting to master the art bowling, we adjourned to the dining room for an aperitif, hearty meal and stimulating conversation.
All during the evening various individuals with wallet or purse in hand had been traversing to and from the TAB betting machine. At 7:15pm, all became apparent, as a large crowd congregated round the TV to watch Race 4 from Bunbury Trots featuring new Club favourite horse, Barb & Pete's "Cott Beach"
"Cott Beach" started favourite on the TAB paying $1.20. Unfortunately, she couldn't overcome a difficult barrier draw and bunched start, which saw her pulled back and having to make an early run 4 wide around the field. Her 4th placing dented the retirement plans of some. The obvious repercussions are no free coffee or champers at Doddi's this week!
The evening wound up with some "kicking on" to Dome and the rest heading home for a cup of tea.
Thanks again to Ken & Glenda.
