Updated Results & Photos for 2017 MSWA State Championships
Masters Swimming WA’s premier annual event for Clubs, the 2017 LiveLighter State Championships, was held over the weekend of the 29th and 30th of April at HBF Stadium, Mt Claremont. Captain Jen led a strong Mandurah Masters team of 17 Mannas.
Overall Mandurah came 5th out of 28 Clubs. Better still, we won the Country Club and Club Handicap awards. The latter demonstrating the quality of our swimmers.
The results of the 2016/2017 MSWA State Open Water Swim Competition were also announced with Captain Jen and Rod winning awards for the top open water swimmers in their respective Age Groups, more on that in a later post.
Gerda definitely had a busy weekend. She smashed Pauline's WA Record for the Female 75-79 50 Fly by 3 secs on Saturday in a time of 57.80 and then on Sunday knocked off another 3 secs off the record she had just set, with an outstanding 53.98 swim.
Our W280 Female Medley Relay team (Jannie, Pauline, Gerda and Colleen) smashed the State Record for the 4x50m Medley Relay on Saturday by whopping 12 seconds! On Sunday, with a minor reshuffle of Deb Bloor swimming instead of Colleen, the girls smashed the State Record for the W280 4x50m Freestyle Relay.
