Mandurah Masters "Doddi's Dash" is on!
With the onset of Spring we have had some wonderful days swimming at Doddi's, but the best is still to come. On November 19, Mandurah Masters will be running what is arguably the highlight of the 2016/2017 Open Water Swimming Calendar, namely: the inaugural intra-club 1km Handicap "Doddi's Dash". This is a handicap event open to all Mandurah Masters members. The slowest swimmers will start first followed at specified times by progressively faster swimmers; i.e. the Stall Gift for swimmers!
An entry fee of $10 puts you in the running to win some memorable prizes and entitles each swimmer to a free sausage sizzle. All proceeds will be donated to Charity (TBA).
Registration and handicap allocations will start at 8:00am and will be followed by the race briefing at 8:30am, both at the Doddi's "Clubrooms" (across from Dome). The swim will start at approx. 9:00 am off the beach on the east side of the Groyne. Swimmers will make their way to the Reef at the western end of the beach, where they will round two buoys before returning outside a marker to exit at the beach on the east side of the Groyne (where they started).
Handicaps will be set by the official Stewards and no correspondence will be entered into, although bribes are acceptable (the steward's bank account details will be provided later).
After the swim, everyone can enjoy a sausage sizzle before prizes are awarded at approx. 10:30am.
In the lead up to the event, some specific DD training will be run at the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions. No doubt, the keen ones (like Captain Mike) will be training every other day at Doddi's.
You can enter by filling in the Entry Form and paying your fee at any Doddi's or Pool Session up until entries close, which is on Saturday 12 November.
